I pay £15 a month to my optician for total contact lens support. This includes lens and fluid. Not to mention that if I lose a lens I can go to the optician and get a replacement free of charge.Same deal with fluid, if I run out I can go to the opticians and get some more. This rarely happens though and I end up giving the stuff away.
I find I see better with my lens in as because they are directly over my iris it covers a greater field of vision than my glasses,it's like DVD surround sound vision lol.Maybe you could use that as your bargaining point.

Hi,

I have worn gas permeable lenses since I was 17 best thing I ever did as I hate wearing glasses. They cost about £100 and last at least a year, but can take a little getting used to, but worth it in the long term as they are better for your eyes than soft lenses.

Soft ones esp disposable ones cost about £15 a month,Itried them but found them a bit fiddly.

I must admit my parents would not get them for me but as soon as I got a job they were the first thing I bought and were worth every penny.

Good luck persuading your parents !

Go and have your eyes tested and also make an appointment for a contact lens consultation take your mum with you they usually let you have what you want. The contact lens fitter will go through the lenses that are best suited for you i suggest dailies cos there is no cleaning solutions to worry about and they are more healthly for your eyes as you use a fresh pair every time. Specsaver's have good deals on contact lenses and they might do your consultation for free. Good luck.

price depends on what you want..

convincing parents - if your under 25 and short sighted this can improve vision causing prescription to drop.

if you have an astigmatism toric lenses can improve this. Wearing lenses in my case made my prescription drop drastically within a few years and also helped to keep my eye muscles active as i can see in all areas and not have my glasses frame block my vision.

mind you - there has to be the understanding that you have to 100% hygenic or you can get nasty eye infections.

and - never have gas permeable lense daily disposables are the safest.

Go to specsavers, they have great payment plans, I get dail;y disposables, 30 a month and pay £22 a month direct debit, there are other lower options too, but you also get other incentives like 1/2 price on specs.

I have monthly ones, and they cost about £13 per month - this includes solutions and eye tests.

Re: reluctant parents - try appealing to their sense of sympathy - tell them you're really unhappy wearing glasses, and they make feel really self conscious.
