Our cat snores. It sounds like air coming out of a bicycle tire. Her health is fine otherwise though she is slightly overweight. At her last examination, the vet said her weight isn't a problem at this point but we forgot to mention her "serenading".
Does anyone else have a cat that snores? If so, what did you do about it?

My 14 year old cat is also overweight and snores. She has done this for years. We didn't do anything. Certainly you should mention it to your vet, but I don't think it is a problem as long as she is healthy otherwise. We also now have an 8 month old kitten and she has snored a few times as well. It might just be the way they are laying.

Ha! Yes, I have a cat that snores, and my parents have two that snore...and our family cat before those snored, too. It's almost like a wheezing usually. I don't think it's a problem, though. Does it bother you to the point of needing to do something about it for your own sake?

i have 3 cats and they all snore i dint thick that it is a problem and when i talked to my vet she told me that weight could be a factor in that my cats are Farly lager cats and snore all the time some nights my dogs are snoring too its not nothing to be overly concerned about my cats have been snoring for about 4-6yrs now and they are still fine just think about a person that snore as long as the are breathing they will be fine so don't worry

I have four cats. One snores regularly and prefers to sleep with his head on my pillow snoring directly into my ear. Ear plugs are a wonderful thing. He is a bit over weight, but my thinner cats do snore from time to time as well. According to the vet the only issue is that my 13 yr old guys are getting cataracts. Don't worry, just try to keep her off of your pillow.

Over the years, we've had several cats that snored, sounded like a freight train. All but one of our cats were just snorers, sometimes swollen nasal passages, sometimes because they slept with their butts higher than their heads, etc. One of our cats snored because he had a brain tumor that had grown into his sinus cavity. He had no other symptoms of a brain tumor but the snoring, so we all assumed it was just snoring. I would contact my vet and ask him about the snoring, and if you are still concerned, he can always do a scan on him.

That is hilarious! I've always had cats, but never heard of one snoring. A couple really loud purrers and one that occasionally squeaks through her nose when she's sleeping, but I wouldn't call it snoring.

I guess as long as the vet didn't find any problems, kitty should be fine. (I liked the "bull horn" comment too!)

I have a 17 year old female cat that snores like a bull moose eating a grizly bear. She is a bit over weight as well. I don't know that there is anything you can do other then lock her out of the bedroom at night.

My PhooseKat snores....the deeper he sleeps the deeper his snoring. I went and checked the vents and windows one night thinking there was a 'leak' somewhere as I heard air whistling.....found out it was the PhooseKat. Kali snores also but hers is very light and can be mistaken for almost purring.

I don't have a cat, but that sounds cute. We did have a dog that snored and she lived to be very old.

One of my cats snores and to tell you the truth I just deal. He sleeps at the foot of my bed and I just let him rumble away. Once you get used to the noise it won't bother you any more.
