No. The reason they call it a "negative calorie food" is because it burns calories when it digests the celery. Since there are less calories in the celery than the amount of calories burned through digestion, you will ultimately burn more calories than you consume. It doesn't "burn" calories itself, though. Really this happens with all food. Even a burger. The only difference is, is that the burger has a lot more calories in it than the body burns by digesting it.

I'm not sure about celery, but I can tell you that carrots do. I don't remember the exact numbers on this, but an average carrot has about 4 calories, but require 6 calories of energy to digest it, so in the end you loose 2 just by eating it. I can't imagine celery being much different. Stick with veggies and you can't go wrong.

It's a joke approach.
If you take 15 minutes (or more) to eat a stick of celery, you will burn more calories eating it than the celery provides
