Obviously this is different times, and the people on TV do not represent the Christian community on the whole.

Jesus was not against wealth. Some of God's greatest blessings have been upon great men of faith, like Abraham, and King David, and King Solomon.
Preachers on the "religious channel" are always suspect, unless they do as Billy Graham's organization has always done, and that is to have open books that are audited frequently and publicly.
Benny Hinn is inexcusable on any number of levels, not the least of which are his finances.
But, to hide behind a hypocrite, you must be smaller than the hypocrite! "But if you will not do so, behold, you have sinned against the LORD, and be sure your sin will find you out." Numbers 32:23
God's promise of belssing financially is the only place in the Bible I have ever found where God says to put Him to the test:
Malachi 3:8-12
"Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, 'How have we robbed Thee?' In tithes and offerings. 9 "You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing Me, the whole nation of you! 10 "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this," says the LORD of hosts, "if I will not open for you the windows of heaven, and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows. 11 "Then I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it may not destroy the fruits of the ground; nor will your vine in the field cast its grapes," says the LORD of hosts. 12 "And all the nations will call you blessed, for you shall be a delightful land," says the LORD of hosts.

First Jesus was not against money or the rich. HE never said that money is the root of evil. HE said "The LOVE of money was the root of evil."
Religious channel need money to do anything just like you and me that the way the word is.
Now as Christians should live a life that will bring glory to GOD not to them. As for Benny Hinn he does not live like a christian should and should humble himself before GOD.

what always puzzled me is how they are able to convince people that paying for a private jet (like Benny Hinn has done recently) is somehow the responsibility of the congregation. He said God told him the people were to pay him, like, 12 million dollars by some date so he could pay for the plane to take HIM around the world to preach the word.Don't these people know they're being conned?

very simple answer riligion is man made there is no historical facts that prove the existance of a man called jesus, if there is I have not found it in the last 30 years of looking religion was invented to control the slaves of eygpt later to raise armys to fight wars and current religions are simply out for the cash. people are afraid to die they want to know that at the end of their life span there is something else. if religions arnt about cash then one must ask why do the churches not spend there money on feeding the starving nations..

I'm a devout Christian, and I believe that we should use some of our financial resources to help others. But the modern version of the Christian church is much more about the financial success of the institution than it is about the value of the institution to achieve good. And most TV evangelists have abandoned Christianity altogether, with Billy Graham being a notable exception.

Jesus was and is never against money.Do you remember the widow's mite?He was touched by the widow's gesture, had it not been that he would have condemned her but he didn't.Give what belongs to Caesar to Caesar and what is God's to God.Jesus said this because these poeple didn't want to pay tax.The bible also says that, "Give one-tenth of your earnings to God."In those days, people gave foodstuffs and livestock and burnt them, but now we use the money wisely to do God's work.
Do you also remember Ananias and his wife Zaphira? Ananias stole part of the gift for God's work and he was strucked dead.
However, the devil uses wealth to win men, that's why Jesus said "it is difficult for a richman to enter the kingdom of God than a poorman."People tend to do evil with their wealth that's why Jesus cautioned men about wealth.

Because those people don't follow Jesus, if they did they wouldn't be seeking money they would be serving God. They are a disgrace to the Church of Jesus Christ. Fortunately God has brought some of them down and sent them to prison but others continue and I suppose they will until Jesus returns.

Money is of the world. It is necessary but not everything.
Humanity is what keeps this world sane. If everyone started doing things only for money then we will not be humans anymore.
Money is important for the mind. But there is something higher. True peace, love and joy comes from beyond the mind itself. This is the state of no-mind.
When our thoughts stop, we feel the presence of this ONE Life. This ONE is what we humans refer to as GOD.
Jesus spoke in parables. Only people who seek wisdom will understand its meaning. Remember "You will find the TRUTH, and the TRUTH will set you FREE."

That's for God to judge, not us. "it's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of Heaven" So, rich people CAN enter heaven. God is not against being rich, but rather what you do with your wealth
