It just seems that way because anytime a church leader does something stupid, it is publicized. There are just as many teachers who are homosexual and who are pedophiles. I

First off, there is an increase but don't mistake that one person in the news is representing a 1,000 others who just haven't been caught yet. There probably is a 1,000 others out there that haven't been caught but by and large I will venture to say that the large majority of church leaders of every denomination are good people.

Many? No. A very few? Yes.
It's kinda like what Muslims are experiencing. Because of the actions of a few, the majority receive the condemnation. Well, that wasn't fair of me to single out Muslims because Atheists, Jews, Christians, Buddhists, Mormons and (insert people group here) all experience this. It's all fuel for the media to sell their spin. Tomorrow, it will be something else.

Why are so many church leaders heterosexuals, homosexuals and paedophiles might be more to the point.
We don't blame heterosexuality for paedophilia and neither should we blame homosexuality for paedophilia, you seem to be trying to make a non-existent link here and it's unfair and does nothing to address the issue of paedophilia which is an abuse the other two are not.

I would have to point out that this is a sensationalizes minority, but in the case of this minority, this is my guess as to why:
Living in a highly religious society and household, a person who has homosexual tendencies develops a fear of themselves. They assume something is wrong with them and so they try to hide it. This turns to self-loathing and, in an effort to fix themselves and escape from self-loathing, they enter religious organizations. Eventually, it catches up with them, and that is what we are seeing.
As for pedophiles, I have no idea.

I don't believe that there are any more homosexuals and pediphiles amoung church leaders than there are in any other profession out there. It's just that because they are church leaders they get more publicity for it.
God bless,

I'd be more comfortable if you didn't put homosexuals and pedophiles in the same question like that.

Well, I'd have to say that the percentage of these among ALL church leaders is very, very small. I'd say far less than a one hundreth of a percent.
So, congrats, you've made the biggest and stupidest over generalization of the day.

Do you have evidence to suggest that the occurrence of homosexuality and pedophilia is greater among church leaders than among the general population? I'd love to see the research. Care to give a citation?

They let sin/lust take over instead of the word shining in their hearts. Everyone falls at one time or another, but when you're leading a flock, when you're a teacher of the gospel, you are held accountable before God for your actions and that person will be judged.
God won't be mocked.
