Low carb diets are really not the answer to losing weight. Eating the RIGHT carbs is key. If you eat complex carbs like yams, sweet potatoes, beans, lentils, almost any veggie... fruits - avoiding melons, grapes and overripe bananas, you'll not spike your blood sugar levels. Educate yourself about low GI eating. Try www.mendosa.com It's a site for diabetics with LOADS of info about healthy eating.
Low carb diets usually depend on LOTS of protein from meat - increasing your intake of fat - which is bad for your cholesterol.

AND by eating those complex carbs you obtain fiber. Eliminate the fiber on a low carb diet and well... forget about easy elimination. Low carb diets are a recipe for constipation.

In order to lose weight and keep it off you need to modify your lifestyle by implementing a weight program that doesn't leave you feeling hungry, deprived and resentful, and includes the right type of fat burning exercise, teaches you how to eat in restaurants, and during the holidays, and deals with stress.

People that have support with either a coach, trainer or group have a much more sucessful time losing weight and keeping it off.

The Transitions Lifestyle System targets all these areas. My husband lost weight amazingly fast and it was painless and the weight stayed off.

I'd recommend you find someone in your area that runs a group and sign up for their 12 week program. There's only a handful of Certified Coaches, but many groups lead by trained leaders throughout the US, Canada, Aus, and Taiwan.

I don't know of any directory, but if you email me, I'll see if I can get you in touch with someone in your area.

Low carb diets are unhealthy. The body needs carbs for energy. Do not go on a low carb diet. You will lose weight, no doubt, BUT, it will definitely come back once you start eating "normally" again.

Your best bet is to just eat healthier and less. And exercise more.

Hope I helped. :-)
