I am woundering what amp to hook up to my 2 mtx 9500s i am currently looking at getting eather an MA Audio HK4000D or a Hifonics BXi 2006D... i want to be able to pound my subs but at the same time i dont want to turn them on and just hear a loud boom and not have them work any more. any suggestions? and if it is a matter of spending a little bit of extra money to get an amp that i upgrade subs onto later that would be fine. i could just tone it down with the mtx's

If your subs are 4 ohm DVC you'd be better off with the HK4000D as it's output is 1800W x 1 at 4 ohm (14.4V) and wire the subs like so:

This will give you the 4 ohms the amp is looking for and will supply 1800 watts RMS to 2000 watt RMS subs. This is probably as close as you can get without going over in wattage or buying two amps.

-or-

If your subs are 4 ohm SVC, you might want to check out a hifonics XX Cyclops

Ultra D-Class Amplifier Design 4.0-kiloWatts/1 x 4000-Watts RMS @ 1-Ohm

This may translate into 2000 watts RMS @ 2 ohms if the subs are wired in parallel, like so:

The bottom line is the amp your going to need, must be able to dish out 2000 watts RMS at either 2 or 4 ohms depending on how many coils the subs have. Or you'll have to get two amps.

In any case, you'll also most likely will have to upgrade the battery, alternator or both.

MA Audio is junk. Hifonics claims more power then they produce. those subs are more for bass then SQ. so a kicker amp would be a good value.

also why did you choose the 9500? they only go down to 34hrz. i have 6x9's that hit lower then that. i'm not saying, i'm just saying.

good luck, and sense you need 2000 watts rms, your going to have to spend some money.

in my opinion rockford fosgate is the best amp.. it is durable and very powerful---remeber never go cheap with your sytem--a cheap system gives you cheap sound...
