Press on them. They should only yield to slight pressure. If they feel very soft inside they may not be good. Cut it open and look for black spots on the green fruit. If there is too many or it is super soft and colaspses it is not good. You can cut off some of the black but if there is too much it needs to be tossed.
The good part is you are making guacamole and you need super ripe avacadoes for that, just no black and no mold. Remember never put an avocado in the fridge until it is ripe. How do you tell it is ripe, press with thumb, it should have a slight give (too hard, not ripe/too much give, overripe) Buy avocadoes just ripe if you will use that day. If not buy hard ones that are just turning black (skin) for use in a few days. Need to ripen one fast, put in brown paper bag for a day.

They are good until they turn brown more than green on the inside..then they get a bitter taste. Are you talking the little chilie or hass avacodos or the floridian or californian avacados. The floridian and californian avacados suck for guacamole. I actually think they suck period...too bland.

It probably depends on the ripeness when you bought them. Check how ripe they are now by gently pressing the skin. If they are still a little firm, they should be fine. If they're mushy, they'll most likely be brown and yucky inside.
Good luck with the guac. I love it!

Ripe uncut avocados can be stored in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.

As long as you haven't cut them up they should still be good. They usually last about two weeks if you bought it hard. A tip with Avocado's if your only planning to eat half don't take the pit out it will keep it fresher longer.

Sure you can, as long as they're not too mushy, and you haven't cut them open yet. If they've become all mushy your dip may come out slimy...not good. As long as they still have some firmness they're fine.

The only way to find out is to peel them and find out. Usually, you can tell by gripping them and feeling how firm they are.

they keep for a while if you have not peeled off the skin. If they are brown once you sliced them, then it was too long.

they should still be good if you bought them fresh. Slice in half and check it out. If there is a pungent smell, then dont use it anymore.
