How old is the religion of Jehovah’s Witnesses?
According to the Bible, the line of witnesses of Jehovah reaches back to faithful Abel. Hebrews 11:4–12:1 says: “By faith Abel offered God a sacrifice of greater worth than Cain . . . By faith Noah, after being given divine warning of things not yet beheld, showed godly fear . . . By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed in going out into a place he was destined to receive as an inheritance . . . By faith Moses, when grown up, refused to be called the son of the daughter of Pharaoh, choosing to be ill-treated with the people of God rather than to have the temporary enjoyment of sin . . . So, then, because we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also put off every weight and the sin that easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”
With reference to Jesus Christ, the Bible states: “These are the things that the Amen says, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation by God.” Of whom was he a witness? He himself said that he made his Father’s name manifest. He was the foremost witness of Jehovah.—Revelation 3:14; John 17:6.
Their beliefs and practices are not new but are a restoration of first-century Christianity.

It is Jehovahs Witnesses and they have one leader,God ! They are right on the money as far as there Bible teachings go! They do not Celebrate Holidays, such as Christmas, due to the fact it is a "Pagan"Holiday! or Halloween which is a "Celebration of the Dead" all Hallows Eve, they do celebrate weddings and the marriage of a man and women! But the do not pledge there alligence to a "Flag"or Practice anything that God Jehovah has said was a sin.
In the Hebrew Language ,Gods name is " JEHOVAH" and they use his name in there worship, using his name makes it more personal .They do not conform to Mans way of goverment, but will respect it at all costs.
They are the Kindest and most God fearing people I have ever meet! And they love doing what the Bible tells them to do! Jehovah explains in the Bible to go out and do the Preaching of His Kingdom that is at hand! That all may be saved from the Wicked World we live in and it is a Battle that Satan has to turn people against them. There mission is for all to be saved and live in a Paradise forever! Right here on Earth! God will not destroy something so Majestic of a Creation as Earth! He is a God of Love! Isaiah 65:13,17; 2Peter 3:13 The Religion to find more about it ,and if you go to Jehovah's Witness on the Internet you can read how it all plays apart of the World today! and who originated it ...God did!

In the early 1870s, Russell organized a Bible study group in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where they would study the bible topic by topic. Russell came to disavow the mainstream Christian concepts of the Trinity and hell
In 1876, Russell met Nelson H. Barbour and subsequently adopted Barbour's eschatology. Barbour had predicted a visible return of Christ for 1873,[3] and when that failed to occur, he revised the prediction to 1874.[4] Soon after the second disappointment, Barbour's group decided Christ had returned to the earth in 1874, but invisibly.[5] They differed from most Second Adventists by teaching that all of humankind descended from Adam would be given a chance to live in a paradise Earth.[6] The year 1914 was seen as the final end, marking a forty-year period from 1874.[7]

It would be difficult for me to give you an objective description of this group of Christians because my extended family are Jehovah's Witnesses. My mother broke away from them and raised me to view them with skepticism.
In a nutshell, they don't become involved in national or world affairs (unless it is related to the Watch Tower), and most social activity. They are awaiting the final Judgment, Armageddon. That and pioneering are the only things are important to them.
Their predictions have failed every time and they have settled on "inevitability" meaning that it will happen at any time.
With a membership of maybe 10 million in a world of about 6 billion, you have to wonder why they haven't been more successful. I think it is because most people want to enjoy life in the here and now, and a larger social network.
Mind you, they are very courteous and friendly up front. That is their training. Once you are indoctrinated, you have to live a very strict life which largely consists of attending meetings and doing pioneering (door-to-door). Screw up, and you will see how coldly they will treat you. In fact, you only need to be blood-related to see how cold the Witnesses can be to non-Witnesses. I'm pretty much through with them.

first place. it is spelled Jehovah Witness. we are a religion not a cult like some people keep saying. we worship Jehovah God and his son Jesus Christ. we don't celebrate holidays because they are pagan, but we do give gifts all year. we live in 235 lands and all worship the same God Jehovah. we live in our own homes and pay bills like you do. we also go shopping in stores for food and have problems just like anyone else does. if you want to know more about Jehovah Witnesses this is the real webpage for us and yes we do have computers. www.watchtowers.org. also read in your bible ps 83 verse 18. that is God Jehovah's name

It's a Christian based religion....Jehovah is another name for God in the Old Testament.
Jesus is their profit... 1931 is when it officially started calling itself Jehova's Witnesses. "After a schism in 1917, those who remained supportive of the Watch Tower Society adopted the name Jehovah's Witnesses in 1931 under the leadership of Joseph Franklin Rutherford."
