I want to put ut a line of breath mints. I want to do it myself...I do not want to approach candy companies and see if they are interested in buying it, etc. etc. I just want to make the product, package it, and sell it. I have learned here, and from a few other places, that a "co-packer," preferably one that works with this specific kind of product, will be needed to handle the packaging, storing, and shipping of the product, but what of MAKING the product? Where do I turn to get the product actually cooked, dyed, baked, cut, whatever...???

I do not know how to make these products myself, nor do I have the facilities to do so.

Does anybody know this? When I spoke to co-packers, 18 in all just this morning, I was told "dunno." I have scoured the Internet, as well as calling dozens of candy companies, just for good measure. No one has an answer about this. Can this be that difficult to learn? Where does a piece of candy get MADE???

Thank you.

I know there are companies that will make 'promotional mints' to order. That is, mints with writing or a logo advertising your company or brand-name or anything you like. You could check out their prices and see if there is enough profit left in it for yourself. I don't know whether you would consider these as 'breath mints'.

You then need to establish a strong brand-name through conventional advertising or some clever internet word-of-mouth advertising, advertising in eZines, on radio/internet-radio, etc.

Often, the selling price of a product bears no relation to how much it cost to make, just to how well-known and cool/fashionable it is. If your first brand becomes unfashionable, just start another. See if any firms can produce mints with an unusual shape or color or container or dispenser (like PEZ candy).
