A vet can usually determine the age by the dogs teeth. When you take the pup in for his shots and check up the vet can tell you approximately how old he is.

Bring him to the vet, they'll check a lot of things, but especially the teeth. It's not really accurate in an older dog, but it will at least give you an idea.

Your vet will be able to determine the age (estimate) by looking at his teeth. This is not always easy if the dog has tarter/plaque covered teeth when it is at a young age. Check this out if you want more information on how vets can determine the age. http://www.ruralareavet.org/PDF/Physical_Exam-How_to_Determine_Age.pdf#search='determine%20age%20of%20dog'

Your vet will be able to give you the best approximation, based on bones, teeth, breed, etc. The pup must see a vet anyway if just found, to make certain of it's health.

You may not be able to determine his age on your own, but a vet will be able to look at his teeth and tell.

the teeth. if they're tiny and really sharp, it's still a young pup, up to about 6 months or so. if they don't feel so sharp, well, i think you get the picture. the best way to tell is to bring it to the vet. hope this helps. good luck.
