OH MAN, I know exactly what you mean, I'm 6'8 265 and I used to box (just to keep in shape) and I had similar situation with a guy (Napoleon complex) and wanted to fight. Well I didn't box for fighting purposes but that didn't stop him.... so i finally caved in and fought the little Sh1t.... It took me about 45 seconds but i knocked him out and he never said another word to me.........

First of all what do you have to prove? He is obviously a little S.O.B. and you are not. Fighting him might seem like good a way of shutting him up but if you beat him he will just have some excuse for losing, like you are not in his weight class or you are so much taller than him, in short it's a no win deal for you.
Boxing and martial arts are two different things, don't waste your time with this guy. Boxing has set rules of engagement and martial arts is more like anything goes. You should realize this guy is not a true martial artist if he is going out looking for a fight. He's got little man syndrome and you should try to walk away but if that won't work you should at least learn basic take down defense and if tries anything try to keep it on your feet and beat him to a pulp. Also learn some kickboxing defense to protect your knees.
If you are looking to be a professional boxer you should tell him so and tell him that you are not going to jeopardize your career for a nothing like him.

Some good suggestions so far. This is what I think: you can most likely defeat him easily, based on your overwhelming size, strength and pugilistic advantages. So you have nothing to prove to this person, and if you just beat him up badly it may create some negativities or a lawsuit.
However, you can be a nice guy and introduce him to his weaknesses, help him become a better person or at least a better fighter. You can do this by both agreeing to spar in a friendly, constructive atmosphere. Make sure there's a third person present or sign something saying no one will sue. He'll probably have something to prove but a few simple stunning jabs and straights from you will quickly put him in his place and give him a reality check. When he starts to get a bit hurt, I suggest you slow down and give him some pointers about fighting. If he still wants to be an asshole after that, unfortunately he probably deserves to be beaten up.
And if by some freak accident he gives you difficulty in sparring, then you learn something too. It's a win-win situation.

spar him, let him do "elbow and joint strikes". It isn't like he is going to be able to hit you anyway. He is likely used to tip tap hit and move stuff. just pull your punches so you don't hurt him too bad. He will likely just back down from fighting you anyway and if he doesn't then just hit him with a few but just enough to let him know his delusions. Boxing is actually one of the better martial arts because it is pressure tested under realistic rulesets (true you are limited when it comes to certain things, but still they aren't as important as he thinks they are). If he gives you some issue about grabbing tell him you guys could just use MMA gloves.
make him sign a release if you are worried about injury.

You could always TRY telling him you apprieciate his opinion and thank him for sharing and walk away.
Tell him while you practice a different form of figting both teach DISCIPLINE, and both of you need to show that. I mean this sarcastically of course sine discpline is a huge part of martial arts. Not as much with boxing.
Its worth a try see if that shuts his little a** up.
I wouldnt reccomend fighting this "little" guy youd probably hurt him severly he sounds like hes got napolean complex big time....You see this alot in bars and clubs where the dumbest guy finds the biggest guy and picks a fight to prove something...what I dont exactly know but it happens.
good luck keep yuour temper in check this dude will get bored eventually ...hopefully anyway right

THis is a lose lose situation. If you beat him, you lose, becasue you are much bigger and everyone will see it as obvious that you won. If he beats you, you lose. Also, either way, you could get seriously hurt. You said he has taken martial arts and has terrible form. Both these things can get you hurt. Strikes to joints, neck, groin etc., either intentially or unintentially, can do lasting permanent damage. I know how you feel, I am 6'7" and fight as a combined martial artist. I always have smaller less train guys wanting to fight me. You just gotta stick to what you already have said, "No way". If he will fight you as a boxer, then okay. But you are not a martial artist, and do not fight that style. You are a professional and wish to keep it that way. Good luck, and stick to your principles, no matter what the jerks say. That is why they are jerks, don't lower yourself.

Well... I would say no. He's only taunting you and wants to boast about his ability. And trust me it's really not worth your time fighting someone you know you can give hell to, you might to train more boxing rather than that. Another thing is he's not a warrior at heart so you shouldn't give him the satisfaction by giving him what he wants. A warrior is the one who respect not only the other warrior but also in the fight he's entering. I'm sure you have heard of many duels before and both opponents respects each other. Oh and remember the phrase from spiderman movie(something like this, I can't remember) "The greater the power, the greater is the responsibility". So yeah, you're greater than him.

Why would you want to fight him? What do you have to prove? If he is a decent martial artist he knows that he can’t win a boxing match with you. First rule for him should be don’t box a boxer – do you think he’s that stupid?
If he does fight you he’s going to hurt you, First thing I would do If I was him would be to take out one of your knees, then its all over, except for your surgery and rehab. 5’8 folks move a lot faster than a 6’6 person, and don’t think for a second he doesn’t know that. I think if you ever hit him he would be toast but he’s not going to give you the chance, he’s going to hurt you if he can.

let's face it... some people just deserve an a** kicking. if you're worried about the legal repercussions then see if you can make arrangements to have a referee oversee the fight. Short of that you might want him to explain, in front of many witnesses, that he understands the risks involved in fighting you and that he will not hold you responsible for any injuries he might obtain during the match. once all of the legal issues are out of the way, have at it!
and assuming this is just going to be a boxing match, not a, this guy shouldn't ever be able to beat you, given your respective builds. so if he beats you somehow, you might wanna consider taking whatever this guy is taking.

So he wants to "spar", but he wants the ability to cause possible permanent damage? (Joints, neck, face hits)
In very few martial art tournaments do they practice full contact. If he is as good as he thinks he is e should be perfectly comfortable actually sparring.

Have an attorney check to see if there is a contract that can be signed in order to waive you to damages first-if ALL OUT
If you do not wish this, just follow regular boxing rules....above the belt. Try to get him to agree to 10 ounce gloves too. Sorry for your situation, mouthy people annoy me too. He just sounds young and full of motivation and focus for his sport. If you enjoy the sport, just DO IT! In a gym, with a waiver....if you are worried about legal issues with this guy. And, 10 ounce gloves.....heh heh
happy sporting
Act very afraid of him for a week first, so people can see he is publicly goading you.
