i used to wonder the same thing and i tried everything that i could think of.

a friend of my mothers told me to just give up because cat litter is like chocalate to dogs( i just don't feel the same way about chocalate anymore).

i finally started putting forbid in the cat and dogs food.

forbid is a substance that you give dogs that eat there own poop. you just sprinkle it over there food and it makes there poop tasete bad to them. you can get forbid at your vet or local pet store

I had the same problem. If at all possible put the litterbox in a place where the dog can't get to it but cats still can or purchase a litterbox called "the buddha dome." It's an enclosed litterbox shaped like a igloo that has a small enterance for the cats but dog cant get to. It works like a charm.

I had the same problem with my puppy. I put the litter box in a spare room and put a gate in the door low enough for the cat to jump over but to high for the puppy. Have no problems any more.
What kind of dog do you have? A Buddha box for your cat works great also. If your cat is not afraid for it than the self cleaning litter boxes are fantastic, it did not work for my cats because they were afraid for the sound from the motor.

With my very determined basset hound I tried all kinds of things. Finally I bought a gate that has a smaller opening for the cats to go thru. Since their litterbox is at the end of the hallways they are able to go in but not him. good luck

put the litterbox up high enough so the dog won't reach it, but the cat can (maybe the cat can jump up on something to get to the litterbox)

Put the littler box somewhere up high where the cats can jump in but the dog can't.
Cause there's nothing a dog likes better than fresh kitty poop...
(Who knows why, but it's REALLY gross!)

it would desire to be worms, previous due-point diabetes, or many different issues. Insatiable urge for foodstuff with out weight income is definitely a demonstration that something isn't good. you should take him into the vet for a verify-up as quickly as you are able to. even though you do, do not provide in to his beautiful little face and feed him better than he ought to regularly eat. i comprehend this is problematic, even though this is for his own solid.

I close the bathroom door over so the cat has to push it open to get in. When I hear the door open I look for my 14 week old Bichonpoo. If I see her start to go in the bathroom I tell her firmly "no". She rarely needs to be told any more. When the cat opens the bathroom door she stands outside the door and looks up at me as if to say "I know I shouldn't go in there" and she doesn't.
