The ONLY way to prevent him from mating things is to have him neutered. This is the least of your problems because male cats will spray when they are sexually mature and the urine odors are much stronger in un-neutered male cats than fixed ones.

Hate to break it to you but technically male cats like humans are always "in heat" as long as there is a female around somewhere. Get him neutered or he may spray everything and that is something you can't get rid of. The smell and consistent marking in the future once it is done! Cats and dogs , male or female will hump other animals to show dominance.

Even if you do neuter him he may still hump things. I have a cat who was neutered at 3 months and he occaisionally tries to hump my other cat... fortunately doesn't try it with anything else like my leg.
But yeah neuter him, especially before he starts spraying urine. Once a male cat starts, in my experience it's near impossible to get them to stop. After he's neutered use a squirt bottle or a compressed air can and distract him when he starts humping.

As far as I know and I have had a lot of cats in my life, but a male cat does not go into heat. He probably smells a female in heat. I guess he has just got a case of the hots. Take him to the pet clinic and put him out of his misery and nueter him...He will make a much better cat.

Male cats cannot be in heat, though they can be sexually active. I would advise you to get him fixed, so he won't be driven to try to escape from your house, looking for females to mate with and males to fight with. He will also spray all over the ouse and urinate in unwanted places, in order to mark up his territory (the inside of your home)... After he is fixed he may still try to mate with soft items like stuffed animals or fuzzy slippers, but his sex drive will decrease considerably. The operation is not a big deal at all, so please try to find out if it would be a good option.

Does not matter if he is house cat. He still needs to be neutered. Not only for your sanity, but for HIS health. Unneutered, he is subject to certain cancers. He will be more calm and as an unneutered cat can possibly smell a female is estrus for as far as a mile away, he will become restless and may even try to get outdoors.

a male cat "Tom" does not go into heat. All animals can masterbate to a degree and that's what your cat is doing. If I were you, I'd get him neutered before he starts spraying your entire home. (if he's not doing it already)

Get him neutered, and males don't go into heat, they just smell females in heat. Or get him a female, if you or s.o. else wants more cats.

There are no other answers but this one: GET HIM NEUTERED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can't really do anything about it. He is going to have to go thru this stage. Until he is neutered this will always happen.
