Herodias first married her half uncle , her fathers brother Herod Philip.to distinguish him from Philip the district ruler of Ituraea and Trachonitis. This uncle-husband of herodia, Herod Philip, fathered Salome, apparently her only child. However, when Herod Philip was in Rome,Herodius divorced him and married his half-brother Herod Antipas, also son of her grandfather Herod the Great, by his forth wife, Malthace. Herod Antipas who was district ruler (literally the tetrarch) at the time and whom Jesus Christ called "that fox" also divorced his first wife, a daughter of the Nabataen king Aretas of Arabia, in order to marry Herodias.

John the Baptist had reason therefore to condemn this marriage of Herodias and Herod Antipas, it being both illegal and immoral under jewish law and for doing so he was thrown into prison and beheaded

think of what a righteous guy he could have been to rebuke a King. Few if any would have finished so. Jesus replaced into approximately authority and self-discipline, if no longer why would he make rules. in case you will see the guidelines pertained to issues already being finished by potential of guy, subsequently the commandments have been a rebuke to quit those activities or threat damnation. I come from a faith with authority and self-discipline, the place a clergyman will rebuke the sinner, as he could. Jesus is info of loose will, otherwise he would have converted the international, yet he had to bypass away at the back of disciples to proceed his paintings. John the Baptist could no longer stand quietly by potential of interior the presence of a mortal sin. once you rebuke you desire to shame, as shame leads to righteous confession and then to redemption. it somewhat is God's paintings. human beings could understand that Christians would opt for the movements of others, yet they can't assume the flexibility of God in making very final judgment, including condemning somebody to hell. it somewhat is the ideal judgment spoken of interior the Bible. there are various that want they'd stay with none criticism, regardless of the undeniable fact that it is not genuine. those are the persons who flock to the church homes that furnish on the spot salvation and act without authority or self-discipline. God be with you.
