Trying to connect dvd player to projector. Can only get 2 out of 3 of following: sound, colour picture. Is it that my dvd plyer is not good enough? Have tried it through tv and is fine?!

First off:
-What's the make/model of your DVD player?
-What's the make/model of you projector?
-What kind of cable are you using to connect the two together?

I wouldn't be trying to get SOUND out of your projector, anyway...Most projectors have tiny little MONO speakers that sound terrible...As for the connections, if you have the RED, WHITE and YELLOW plugs, the YELLOW is for video, while the RED and WHITE are for audio...If you have the BLUE, RED and GREEN plugs, these are ALL for video...The other connector you might have is an "S-Video" plug...This looks kinda like a computer cable...Your projector should have at least ONE of these connections on it...Try hooking up JUST the video...

I agree with the previous user. I have had the same problem with my projector. I overcame it by connecting my PC to the projector instead of my cheap DVD player. It now works like a charm, except for the long cable I run from my PC to projector (10m).

i tried this with a cheap dvd and a cheap projector - ended up using a single composite video connector (the phono plugs). We watched the world cup with this setup. Sound you may have to put through your stereo if one is conveniently available (but I guess you're doing something a little more awkward than that)
