Ignore the smart a** people who say "just clean up" after her. Not as easy as it sounds. I had a puppy who did this also. You couldn't get to it fast enough, so, don't imply the asker is negligent in some way.

I got some stuff from the vet called "Forbid". You sprinkle it on the dogs food and it helped a lot.

Consult your veterinarian.

The reasons that I know of are these:

1. She may be missing something in her diet. You may need to switch to a different dogfood. I prefer Science Diet or IAMS---both are designed for dog nutrition... and a side benefit is that they'll eat a bit less food, and poop less poop, on these, rather than the grocery story types that contain lots of meal fillers.

2. For some dogs it's a behavioral problem. Again, talk to the vet.

3. Does she have some safe chew toys? That might help too.

4. It's important to brush your dog's teeth with dog tooth utensils and toothpaste... especially if she's eating her own poop.

5. In an aside, dogs will sometimes eat cat poop to get the oils---catfood has a higher oil content that dogs find attractive, even though it isn't good for them.

Main thing is, talk to your vet and get her/his advice.

there is really no reason why a dog eats their own poop or other animals poop but it is a disease called coprophagia and you should talk to your vet he/she can give you some stuff to put on your dogs food that will make the poop taste nasty (not that doesn't already lol) and also if she is eating other animals poop you may want to have her checked for worms because that is how worms are transferred. The best way to stop her is to immediatley pick up her mess before she can get to it.

Well, I heard that if dogs eat poops you need to feed them some meat that is just stinky, dogs will just love it and you will have no proble anymore. I'm not saying about some old and gross meat but there are just few kinds of meat like liver that smell just disgusting after boiling it but your dog will probably love it.
That's what I did with my dog.

You can get her to stop by cleaning it up before she has a chance to eat it. You could also try paying attention to her and not allowing her to eat it.
