In all Catholic churches Jesus in present in the Blessed Sacrament. He is kept in the tabernacle. When we pass by a Catholic church and make the sign of the cross it is because we are showing respect to Jesus' presence in the church.

God bless,

those that attend church through fact of a living and lively faith merely are greater real looking than those that dont. They comprehend that they have issues merely like all and sundry else yet they have found out they might't resolve the quandary of sin on their own. they want the Saviour!

Well when I'm doing it, I'm making an inverted cross and saying "apo pantos kaikodaemonos." So you can pretty much figure out what that means when I do it. BTW forgive my hastily done greek to english if you are a greek speaker.

it's a sign of respect for their faith. catholics believe that you shouldn't pass a holy cross (which would be displayed somewhere on the church) without acknowledging it.

I have never passed a church, but I think it would be a painful experience.
