I had a really bad case of 'tinea' of the jock area (just beteen my anus and testes) and it had gone but it is now returning and it stings like hell, and I cant stop scratching it although the skin in badly damaged. Has anyone out there (esp guys) who have had severe jock itch before, and if so, what cures it? I've tried all the usual medicine like lamisil and daktarin and even some steroid cream from the doctor, but nothing helps! Help please, this is agony, and its embarrassing having to scratch your balls in public!

My son suffered from a similar thing for several years. He was treated, as you were for fungal infections.

It wasn't until we moved areas and doctors that a doctor finally listened to me and treated him for exzema that it was cured.

I didn't tell my son what the ointment the doctor gave him was usually used for - a 15 year old doesn't want to know he is using haemorrhoid ointment! It worked a charm.

The doctor explained that its perfect as it has strong cortisone and anti-inflammatory and also pain relieving drugs.

I feel for you as I know how my son suffered with it.

Talk to your doctor about this, as the ointment you need for this is prescription only.

It has to be worth a try.

Good Luck!

Make sure the meds the doctor prescribed to you are used for the full course. Make sure not to itch the area. Also when drying be sure to dry the affected area last and don't reuse the same towel two days in a row. Then launder your towels and underwear in hot water with bleach if possible.

Start showering often with Nizerol shampoo in the area. Try to keep cool because the fungus loves heat and moisture. Change your underwear as often as possible.

Thanks for sharing! Too much info...

That doesn't sound like jock itch to me though... sounds more like crabs... And before you go blaming your latest squeeze for giving you something you can get it from toilet seats too!

Get it checked out and get it treated before all those you know and love start scratching that area too... Family meal time could become very interesting!

are you sure its an infection.
it could be a rash.

it may be gobe itch which was discovered when in the desert hence its name, it is caused by not rinsing your clothes properly after washing them.

or

maybe you have an allergy to the washing powder you use.
try a non bio on your underware.

Do you wear tight underwear? Sometimes if you don't wear looser fitting undies your scrotum and your testes can't get any air to allow bacteria to develop.
