From Wikipedia

"Dawkins is well known for his contempt for religious extremism, from Islamic terrorism to Christian fundamentalism, but he has also argued fiercely with liberal believers and religious scientists,[4] including many who might otherwise champion his science and fight creationism alongside him, from the biologist Kenneth Miller[9] to the former Bishop of Oxford, Richard Harries.[30]

What kind of effect will people following this clearly hate-based compaign have on society?

As Christians, perhaps our enemy is not the people or even the ideas, but hate itself?

To the person that said he will openly debate...

" Dawkins refuses to participate in debates with creationists because doing so would give them the "oxygen of respectability" that they want."

"Clearly hate based" campaign?

LOL.

Every one - EVERY SINGLE ONE - of Dawkins arguments is intellectual refutation of an IDEA. Not an attack on a person, not slander. NOT HATE. Sorry if intellectually you guys can't cut the mustard, but you can't resort to dismissing Dawkins' ideas as mere hate.

So what, if he is comdemning all organized religion and radical sects? He's not beating them on the heads with hellfire and damnation or assaulting the essence of their humanity-- and most importantly, not asking for a tithe. Would "hateful" Richard Dawkins tell someone "You just love sin. I'm sorry you're choosing to go to Hell"? He debates what has already been proclaimed. He doesn't assault PEOPLE.

Even though I don't agree with the idea that he's hate-based. I think "evangelical atheist" is a fitting term for him, only because he's out in public spreading truth and trying to rescue people from the traps of circular religious rhetoric.

He has debated Creationists in the past and like most normal people he has had enough of them, bit like trying to debate with you really. He no longer does it because all it does it imply there is a scientific controversy where this is none.

As HUMANS our enemy is the hate. Not as Christians, Atheists, Muslims, etc. Really, no one can prove they are right over anyone else. As long as any brand of bigotry exists, humans will not get along. Fundamentalism of any one religion is just as detrimental (and disgusting) as fundamentalism of another religion.

He absolutely is a "evangelical atheist" - more importantly, he's evangelical "anti-theist", which is more important to the argument.

Hate-based campaign? Like the one where we tell everyone else they're wrong, and that their beliefs are going to send them to hell?

No my friend, this is the revolution where people stop putting up with the garbage of religion. Some of us are tired of you foisting your bigoted values on the rest of us.

Dawkins at least will openly debate anyone who questions his attitude any where any time-how many religionists are willing to do the same?

I don't see anything hate-based about Richard Dawkins.

I think, like most nonbelievers, he's sick and tired of religion and its fan club hampering the evolution of knowledge.

His "campaign" is hardly "hate-based". He's trying very hard to bring some wild-eyed crazies back to planet Earth.

Dawkins is an angry man. I saw him on a film clip interviewing Haggard and both of them are disturbed.
