it doesn't make sense to me. all the different religions and they all believe they are the only way to make it to heaven. some believe in god, some believe in Allah, some believe in Buddah, some believe in deamons and angles and 6-headed monsters...... so if we don't choose the right religion, we go to hell? sounds like a f'd up game to me.

It's not about choosing a religion first. It is about coming to know God by seeking him and asking him who he is--and then he leads you to the truth about himself.

So, that is what I would recommend: Seek to know God. Pray, ask him for faith, ask him to bless you with the knowledge of who he is. Keep your eyes open, and pay attention to where he guides you.

Seeking God is not a game. It is the entire purpose of our life on earth. Just because some humans have misunderstood God and have created religions that attempt to point people in the wrong direction does not mean that it is God who created a game. it is actually people who created the game. God doesn't play games with human souls.

Best to you in your search for the true, living God.

Religion can/is be used in various ways to offer salvation to the sinner(s). It can and is used also to start wars and kill people. It is also used to have control over people and shape their thoughts , which in turn , can / will motivate their actions. Some religions work on your guilt level -- always trying to make you feel guilty, about not coming up to standards. It seems like no matter how hard you might try to be good -- One can not make it through a single day without committing a sin of some kind , or other short coming. Kinda reminds me of telling small kids that they had better be good , or Santa will not be coming to town for them -- like holding a hammer over their head. Religion is a personal thing --believe what makes you happy -- for in the end -- all will die, and in my personal belief, go to the same identical place.A point(s) to mention: If I recall correctly -- does it not say in the King James version of the bible that "Heaven" is 1500 cubits in size(close to our Moons" size)and that there will be only 166,000 souls that will enter into it. If so , then I would suggest that these "Many rooms in my Father"s house" have been filled -- long , long ago.

Every religion's basis is the same: Believe in one God, be good to others especially the less fortunate, and put God first before anything else in your life. Anyone that does these things will go to heaven. However, if you learn that one religion's practices may bring you closer to God while you are here on Earth, then you need to seek out that religion. Jesus says in the Bible to obey the commandments given to Moses, Buddha taught almost the same thing, Krishna did as well before Jesus, and Mohammed reiterated and clarified the same teachings given to Abraham, Moses, and Jesus. The Bible teaches that the commandments are the way to heaven (Mark 10:18-19) and the Koran says anyone that anyone that believes in God will go to heaven (Chap2 vs113).

Dear jugglaman,

First, religion does not save a person. Second, the only Savior is Jesus Christ. Third, one cannot "choose" the Lord. Many people here believe that you can "accept" Jesus like you take a book out of the library. God is Sovereign and rukles over everything. God (Jesus Christ) is perfectly righteous, just, and holy. Man is in rebellion to God and has broken His laws and commandments. The penalty for breaking God's law is eternal damnation (hell). So in order for man to go to heaven, he must pay for all his sins in hell for eternity. However, the Lord, in His great mercy determined to save some of these rebels and make them His children. In order to do so, God had to become a man and then suffer eternal damnation for these He chose to save. These rebels we will call the "elect". The awesome fierceness of eteernal damntion was compressed into the hours between the Garden of Gethsemanae and when Christ said "It is finished" on the cross. Jesus paid the penalty in full but only for those "elect" ones.
God does all the work in saving a person. One cannot accept Jesus like a piece of candy. If you are not saved, read the Bible slowly and prayerfully. Pray and ask God for mercy because He is very merciful. The Bible says, "So then, faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God." Faith is a synonym for Christ. So then, Christ cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

Jesus said, "You will know them by their fruits." If a religion tells you that you must kill to enter Heaven, it's the wrong religion. If a religion tells you that you can find God within yourself (self-worship), it's the wrong religion. If a religion tells you to worship women, mortal men, or animals, it's the wrong religion. All these religions are man-made.
To find out which religion is the true one, you must go back to the Flood (we see evidence of the worldwide Flood all around us). All pagan religons began a few generations after the Flood. Noah and his family were the only ones saved through the Flood, and that's because they were the only ones in the Antediluvian world who worshipped the TRUE God, the Creator. Since God narrowed it down to one family, I think it's pretty obvious who the real God is. The One who brought the Flood is the One who saved the only family who believed in Him.
Three generations after Noah, there was a man named Nimrod who began Sun-worship. Noah's son Shem became angry at Nimrod because of this, so he killed him and dismembered him. After Nimrod's death, his widow, Semiramis, claimed to be pregnant by the Sun-god (now her husband). All female worship including Wicca and Marian worship, Isis, Ishtar, etc. come from worship of her. She had a son named Tammuz, who became a great hunter and was eventually killed by a boar. He also was worshipped, and it is through him and his mother that we get the secular traditions of Christmas, Easter and Lent.
Even all Eastern religions come from this sun-worship. You'll notice that almost all figures of deity in the East have a sun-disk behind their heads. Japan has a sun on their flag. Buddha is often portrayed with a sun behind his head.
When you study about where all the other religions of the world come from, it becomes obvious that the only God that truly exists is the God of the Bible, because His story was right all along.

Here's my opinion, for what it's worth:
God doesn't expect you to choose the correct religion in order to go to Heaven. One thing that is being missed here is that God didn't create religion; man did. God is at the center of each of these religions, whether you call him God or Allah or Jehovah. Live your life as you see fit but keep the Commandments and you should see God in Heaven. Hope that helps.

what would I do without my bible, not the bible, Boethius, my bible. Hmm, I would probably get drunk all the time, probably get dissapointed over pointless stuff and be working my life away. So in my opinion, I think that a good book is worth reading over and over again. I never read the bible, don't care much for it, but I have read indian Philosophy. the bagahvad Gita is a good book, as well as hundreds of other good philosophy books. Or hell, there are also millions of fiction books out there. So I guess the best thing to do is just not worry about it. Peace.

This is just one of the myriad of inconsistincies when it comes to organized religion. I believe the most likely answer is that all religion are manmade and we have no clue as to the true nature of god and the universe. We should be on a journey of learning and discovery instead of just skipping to the end of the journey and saying I'll just believe what this group believes.

I think the SIMPLEST thing to do is use the ONE and ONLY piece of writing that GOD gave to us... The Ten Commandments !!

NO where else in the Bible (or Torah) is God communicating directly to us (correct me politely if I'm wrong). The rest is observations of history, the life of prophets, Man's interpretation of God's words...

I love the stories of Jesus... great guy, a true role model. The Koran makes for good reading also.

Just be GOOD... "Dogma" is an interesting film to watch... pointing out the silliness of "your God my God" fights...

Remember... God is asexual and has a sense of humor !! Or why else did he create the platypus !?!

That is because it isn't about a certain religion, religion is what the problem is. God wants us to have a personal relationship with Him, He is willing to show mercy, forgiveness, and to grant us everlasting life in Paradise in Heaven. We get wrapped into worldly things, when we should be focused on Godly things.
