I bought an iron that shuts off automatically. And a curling iron that does the same. Now I get up 10 minutes earlier so I have time to go back through the house and check everything. Loss of sleep is worth the peace of mind!!

I used to, Now this is "What I do"!
The moment I finish the ironing I turn off the iron and "UNPLUG" it! I turn off the stove the moment I finish cooking and check it the "moment I finish eating".
I found that in doing these things I don't worry any more.
You have to make a mental note to do these things. If you have a tendency to forget write yourself a note and stick it to the mirror in your bathroom and on the inside of your door. That way on the way out you have a reminder.

Yes its quite normal its just when youre doing stuff on autopilot. I always make a point of unplugging the iron because its so dangerous. Once left a chip fryer on for 3 days!

You might have slight OCD... buy an iron that shuts off automatically and your problem is solved. I did the same thing with my hair straightener... so i bought one that turns off after an hour...

I do the same thing! There is just so much that goes on in the mornings and when you finally get to the car you have a little quite time and have time to think. I'm glad I'm not alone!
