hot baths, motrin & rest. sleep on your back, even if it is difficult. try rolling up a towel and putting that under your neck while you sleep instead of a pillow. use a heating pad for 20 minutes at a time (not longer than that) a few times a day. keep hydrated also.

If your neck and back pain is not getting better. You should really see a doctor right away. Back and neck injury's can easily lead to chronic pain that could last your life time. No fun believe me. If the Motrin and moist heat aren't making it better see your doctor.

I WOULD GO SEE YOUR DOCTOR OR A CHIROPRACTOR YOU MAY HAVE SOME PROBLEMS GOING ON THAT JUST MEDICINE CAN'T FIX . DO YOU DO A LOT OF LIFTING AT YOUR JOB, OR MAYBE YOU NEED A NEW MATTRESS.TAKING TOO MUCH MEDICINE IS NEVER GOOD FOR YOU! GOOD LUCK AND DON'T LET THE PAIN GET YOU DOWN . YOU COULD ALSO TRY A HEATING PAD OR HEATING PAIN PATCH!

Of course you should see a doctor first and foremost, but something that couldn't hurt, and might even help, is swimming laps (gently) in a heated pool (if you belong to a gym - I know heated pools are hard to find)....that gave me a lot of relief last year when I was having the same problem.
