I would go to work and get that promotion because it does not come around often and I know we would both benefit from it, especially me. If my partner leaves forever, oh well. That is right, oh well. That tells me he never loved me. Why would a person who really loves you leave because you choose to go to work and get that promotion instead of spending the day in bed with him. Once I receive that promotion, I would have a lot of time after that to spend time with him. If I don't show up, I will not get that promotion and it might be given to someone else. It is easier to find another partner than it is to get that promotion you have been waiting for.

If I had to choose between those two, I would choose lying in bed with my lover. You can always get another promotion some other time, but you can't replace love.
