i have this quote....."Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all thing, hopes all things, endures all things." .... this is the section of the bible it came from..1 Corinthians 13:4-7
now my question is, how do i quote it. like i write the quote and then would it be like ..endures all things." -1 Corinthians 13:4-7
or would i use parenthesis or what

That is a very beautiful quote....
It is fine just the way you typed it, but, yes, the source should go first...not that it matters, it is the substance of the quote that is important.
Thank you for posting this great Bible quote...
I really needed it this morning!

This really depends on where you're putting the quote. The standard for such a long quote is to place it in an indented, separate block of text with no quotation marks. Once you reach the end, some standards are to simply enclose the scriptural reference in parentheses.

Others would have you insert the quote into the text contained in quotation marks. Again it's not unusual to use parentheses for the citation.

If this is for an academic paper, it's important that you use the style manual preferred by your professor. Otherwise, the Chicago Manual Of Style is the gold standard in English punctuation and referencing.

Either one is correct.

You can check out some of the material at the link below, and you'll notice it is done both ways. Here is one example from that site:

A husband should love his wife just as he loves himself. He should treat her the way Jesus treats his followers. (Ephesians 5:25, 28, 29) He should never hit his wife or mistreat her in any way. Rather, he should show her honor and respect.—Colossians 3:19; 1 Peter 3:7.

(Although the Scriptures in this example are simply cited rather than quoted.)

You put Bible quotes in quotation marks, just like you did above. No need for parenthesis.
But usually, you're supposed to put the reference before the passage and not after.

If you are thinking of HTML, it won't work here. Yahoo disables it.

I like your quote anyway. That wisdom has allowed me to make friends with a certain non believer here. It's all very hush-hush but know that Holy Spirit is quite active on Y!A. =)

Check in your MLA Handbook. It teaches how to properly quote various scriptures.

Drink some more rum and put a little more thought into it.
