oily substances kill mites and fleas. Mayonaise would work. Rub it into his coat once a day for two weeks. The reason it takes so long, is that it doesn't kill the eggs. But it killes the mites as they hatch. They drown.

Skin or ear mites? DO NOT use products that are for dogs & cats. First, it won't work. Mites are species specific, as are lice, so you can't get the mites from the hamster. Second, the strength of dog & cat products can KILL the little one.

Make sure you change all the cage items, litter, bedding, toys, etc. Clean the cage with 10% bleach solution. Rinse completely.

If they are ear mites, you can use a drop of baby oil to smother the mites. Usually within 24 hrs they are dead. Wipe the oil away with a tissue.

If it's skin mites, you need to get advice from a vet. Skin mites are usually a sign of more serious problems.. usually unclean conditions. Good Luck.
