It is a degree nomally granted by community colleges or trade schools. There are two purposes to it. With an associate degree, a student can normally transfer to a four-year university with junior status, the associate degree fulfilling their general education requirements. Also, an associate degree is the standard entry-level requirement for some jobs, particular in technical fields like computer repair, electrical wiring, etc.

A two year degree. You will take your English and Math classes, then the classes related directly to your field of study.
No matter what anyone says, you can get a great job with great pay. Some places will take you straight from graduating and they start you out good. I have seen some jobs for people who have a 4 yr degree that pay less than some who have only 2 yrs of college.
I have an Associates Degree that I received 10 yrs ago. Now, not only do I have my degree-but experience as well and I make a lot more than those who have their 4 yr degree.
It's just a matter of looking for what you want. And picking a good field of study.

It's only a 2 yr degree it does not mean you have a Bachelors degree..usually it's a course you take that will help you land a ok job. You don't learn as much as you will learn if you take a 4 yr degree. but it's better than nothing!
