It takes 365 1/4 days to orbit around the sun, every 4 years they add 1 extra day to get us back into the 1 year cycle

There are 365 days in a year. In a leap year which is where we add an extra day to february, there are 366 days, every 3 years. An extra 23 hr and 56 minutes in a leap year.

Well, as they say in the Broadway show "Rent" 525,600 minutes. It would be 527,400 minutes in leap year. Note that occasionally (like on New Year's Eve 2006) a leap second is added by astronomers to keep our calendar in sync with the actual movement of the Earth.
