I understand where you are coming from. When i went to college...I gained 20 extra pounds...
then i had to lose those pounds.
Here is what i did:
1. wrote down everything i ate for a month. very important- i wrote down everything i ate AND how many calories per item......
this of course took some research in the beginning- had to measure out portion size, figure how many calories were in each piece of fruit, etc...
2. wrote down how much i exercised...
3. recorded my weight daily.
Then, i analyzed the data, studied the patterns and decided what changes i had to make to lose weight...
for me, i had to go on a 1600 calorie diet, exercise for an hour five times a week and had to cut down on alcohol consumption....
this might sound hard, but thats what its all about....losing weight is hard, thats why 66% of americans are overweight...
I also found this cool article specifically about losing weight in college...

1. The diet you describe doesn't have enough protein. This could cause organ failure and other serious health problems. Death will certainly cause you to lose weight, but it's not recommended. See a nutritionist.
2. How much weight you would lose depends on how much you weigh now and how much you exercise. A medically-supervised Calorie Restriction diet would allow you to lose 8% of your body weight in a month, but that's too dangerous to attempt without a doctor or a nutritionist, and most of those would want you to lose weight slower than that.
3. Regular cardio exercise, 30-60 minutes a day, every day, is the best way to lose belly fat. An elliptical trainer is a good low-impact, high energy workout. Make the time to exercise--you'll sleep better, you'll have more energy in the day, and you might find that the hour of exercise isn't costing you an hour of work.
4. Yes, reducing the amount of salt you eat will reduce your water retention, and reduce your water weight, for a one-time weight loss of four or five pounds. (Dropping to 1000 mg/day is a good healthy number, but double check with your doctor.) But make sure you're drinking enough non-caffeinated beverages, or you could become dehydrated.

A regular healthy dinner could be 300-800 calories. There's nothing magical about eating an apple and it's high carbs.
If you're going to do the Special K cereal diet, which is basically bread & milk for 2 meals, you need to measure the cereal to 1 serving (it will be small!), use 1% skim milk and no sugar.
Exercise is nice for your heart, but burns very few calories. You don't mention your weight, but if you burned 175 calories a day it would take 3 weeks to lose just 1 pound from exercise.
Again, it depends on how much you currently weigh, but your "diet' calories seem high to me. The cereal will be 600 calories for everything, 200 for "snack packs", 300-800 for dinner, 100 for an apple. That's a lot.

People are having great success with the Shangri-La diet, you'd be amazed. It's simple, inexpensive, no exercise needed, no hunger. Go to Seth Roberts' forum and read. It's not a fad!!!!
It's a flavorless calorie diet based on scientific evidence and self experimentation. Give it a go.
The diet you mention looks pretty unbalanced. You will get hunger pangs and binge, and ruin your efforts. You can lower your weight set-point naturally, take a look at the links below.
