Mores the point why are pizzas round and not square?
It would be even more cost effective to get the same volume of food into a smaller square box
I want 10% of the cost saving for this idea from Pizza Hut, Apache, Dominos, Goodfellas, Gino Ginelli etc etc
.

In the UK they may come in square boxes, but where I
live (Brazil) they all come in round boxes, which once
you have the stamping machinery, the boxes could be
cheaper as the round takes up less cardboard than the
square. Honestly, my Q&A pals, this does seem to be
such an unimportant issue, or not? But only to round this
off, most people think that Italy make the best and most
pizzas, however I can assure you that, in Brazil, there
are more pizzas consumed than anywhere else in the
world. Cheers and have a nice pizza tonight, Iain

Round boxes are more expensive to manufacture than square boxes.
Either the Pizza place must absorb the higher cost of a round box, reducing their profit, or pass the cost on to the customer by increasing the price.

The pizza is round because the crust is made by spinning dough to get it thin enough for pizza crust. If you make a pizza from scratch, you will either spin it or slap it back and forth across you palms. Either method creates a round pizza. If the crust is not round, it probably was not made fresh. Others have already answered that a square box is easier to make.

Hi >
I found out that it is all to do with transportation.
Square things fit together in stacks.
Round things don't, and end up all over the place rolling around.
The day I receive a pizza in a round box, I will ask why?
Hey-Ho.

round boxes are expensive to manufacture and would increase the price of the pizza but not improve the flavor. the real question is why are pizzas round? it wastes dough ( well increases labor) and the pans are costly. square pizzas exist and are just as good to eat.

It's cheaper and easier to produce a square box than a round one. More cardboard will be wasted for a round one. Also, they are easier to store and stack!

Because round boxes are harder and probably more expensive to make. Pizzas are traditionally round so it would be rude to change them! Lol.
