You friend needs to work on his confidence regarding how he feels about himself before he can feel confident with "the ladies". Women hate cheesy chat up lines so I think the best way to approach a woman is to have something interesting to talk about, a good sense of humour and a certain degree of courage. Of course the best way is to make friends first if at all possible which is why pulling in a pub or club is usually a bad idea if you actually want to get anything out of it. Hope you find someone.

Confidence is the answer. To be confident, you need to understand, that ladies want attention from men. So, they want you to talk to them. Keep that in mind. They will readily follow a conversation, if you start it. But you have to be polite, obviously, nice talker. That is how to approach a lady - think what they want and they want your attention, it is so easy. Also, women love to hear nice things from a guy. I repeat, hear, talk means so much for them. They are very sensitive and have a strong imagination, too. I said to one woman in my office once that she looks shining in this dress, without any intensions, and she run out to the ladies washroom all red like a beetroot. Words mean so much. Do not forget what they want and you will be ok. It really works. Even now I cannot go out to buy a loaf of bread without meeting girls and women of all ages, and I am not interested at all.

Start talking to any women you come across in day-to-day life, women at the till in supermarkets or shops, train ticket offices, shops anywhere.
Rather than just Hello, Thankyou and Goodbye start making some conversation.
The more comfortable and used to talking with women (of all ages) the easier it will be to strike up conversation with those women you really want to get to know.

I think he is self conscious, if he can the go to a salon get a really kool hair cut,buy new cloths and smile act confident, women are attracted to a man who is sure of themselves, why do you think women are attracted to arrogant jerks, men who have position and influence or lots of money, they all give the holder a great sense of control and self confidence.

just smile, and and say something nice or smile alone, if a girl likes the look of you she will pick up on it and respond.
Actually research has shown that it is normally women who make the first move with men and men repond to it. women let men know they are interested and men act , so watch for signs.

the way i got over this took awhile and it will probably make u very very nervous at first... just put urself on the spot... before u even think about it, just go up to a girl u like and start talkn to her, normally ud be worried bout wat to say, but ur mind will be workin 100 times its normal speed and ull come up with somethin to say... good luck bro ;)

just smile and say hello but dont go for the best looking ones straight away practice on some mingers first they will talk more because they aint so much up them selfs
