Not all Energy saving bulb are the same but they typically use at least 2/3 less energy than standard incandescent bulbs to provide the same amount of light, and last up to 10 times longer.

First off the average energy saving bulb only uses 16 watts but still puts out like a 65W bulb. If you buy them in bulk they are fairly inexpensive and they last 5 years. Also most have a warranty so if it goes out in less than that time they will replace it free of charge.

energy saving bulbs give more light for the same power consumption or the give same light for less power consumption when compared to an ordinary bulb...
in generally the bulbs have higher efficiency than normal bulbs

A compact flourescent bulb can give 60 watts of light while using 14 watts of electricity.

it should tell you on the package..i use them in my house..they last longer but im not sure they effect the cost of elec.
