So my hair is thining a *little* bit on top and in the front. I've been doing the thing where I brush the hair forward to cover it up a bit. At what point should I just give up and shave everything?

It's difficult to be unbiased about our own appearance. You might want to consider asking other people (who can actually see you!) their opinions about how your hair REALLY looks with the way you are managing it now. Ask friends whose opinions you trust, and maybe even a hair stylist or two. The feedback you get from them should help you to make a decision.
Generally speaking, though, most guys with shaved heads look a LOT better than those who do comb-over-type things. Some look downright sexy! I think it would be a lot less stressful for you to just go ahead and do it now, than to always be anxious about whether or not your hair was "in place".

It is hard to say without seeing a picture of how it looks now.
Honestly, some guys look very handsome with a shaved head....however, some do not.
Keep that in mind what you finally decide to shave it. The only way to see if you look ok with a shaved head is to just do it, obviously.
I would say if the hair you comb over makes it look really good. As in, makes it look like as if you are not doing a comb over to cover thinning hair, then keep doing. When the comb over starts to look like exactly what it is....then shave it.

if yourdoing the old combover thing then maybe its time to shave it off. but if its only a little bit then what is the big deal? it only hair and there is so many different ways you can change your look to take away from the thinning issue

Do it now! Nothing's worse than a guy trying to cover up his baldness. But completely bald can be hot! By the way, my 3 year old daughter saw your avatar picture and she says you look cool! Good Luck!
