Could someone from a University or a food technologist or the white bread lobby or with an interest please look into this. Bread by its nature is largely used for Toast or Sandwiches and usually has a soft spred applied. Am I correct?
Wholemeal bread seems to always have big crators in it that collect excess margarine (or so I find), as such you tend to use more on Wholemeal as opposed to the more uniform flatter white bread. Just wondering if it gets to a point where the health benefits of wholemeal are offset by the excess spread/margarine that is used on it. Try it, I am being serious

Wholemeal bread contains more roughage than white bread. It also naturally contains a few vitamins that get lost in the refining process and have to be put back into white bread. If you have a reasonably well balanced diet, it doesn't make a great deal of difference.

And no, you're not supposed to fill all of the holes in your toast with margarine.

White bread has slightly more calories per slice than wholemeal (1)
Plus wholemeal has a lot more fibre than white bread, thus helping our digestive systems stay healthier.

If you buy a wholemeal bread without grains, then it's no different to white bread. I buy Warburtons wholemeal, and it's perfect. White bread is really bad, it's fully of nasty things that make it white, it's doughy and bloats me out. Yuk!

Try Kingsmill wholemeal (medium) it is lovely. White bread is not that good for you...note how some white breads are just bendy processed slices.

i think they already have hence brown/wholemeal bread is healthier due to all the salt and crap in white.

yeah... its much better and healthier.. its got more fibre contents and roughage.. so it can be of much help to us than eating a white bread.. so always go for a whole bread rather than a white bread...
