Teachers get 'teacher gifts' all the time (I'm a teacher) I love the thought that goes into each and every gift but.... my cupboard is filled with "Number 1 teacher" mugs and I have to have 2 X-mas trees to hold all the ornaments that I've received over the years...
The best gifts are the ones that I can really use. Do the teacher like coffee? Forget the mug and give a bag of fancy coffee or tea. How about a movie rental gift card (everybody rents movies!) The single best gift I ever received was a group gift from the whole class for a foot massage!! I also have one parent that gives me homemade Peanut Brittle (which I love!)
Another idea is try to snap a picture of your child and the teacher together - it's simple and can easily be placed in a Memory Album.
Thank you for putting some thought into your child's teacher's gifts, whatever you choose they will appreciate it!!

I have been a preschool teacher/daycare owner for 10 years. The staff and I have always enjoyed gifts such as homemade frames with a picture and homemade card, an inexpensive candle, lotion, or body spray in a gift bag that the child decorated. I drink ALOT of hot tea in the mornings so my kids get me mugs often. I always have the child write their name on it with permanent marker and when not drinking out of them they are displayed. If the child doesn't want to mess up the design then I have them write their name on the bottom. Six teachers are alot to buy for and that can get expensive. But believe me they will appreciate it so much especially if you don't get them something with an apple on it or anything that says #1 Teacher. Try to get them something that will be used.

Well, I think it's important to remember that preschool teachers are among the most hard-working and underpaid folks out there. And, that, unfortunately, they only have room for so many personalized gifts in their homes.
So, I suggest something that they can really use - like a gift card - Starbucks, Target, whatever. If you really want to make it special, wrap it in tissue paper that your daughter has decorated with hand prints or something like that. That way you combine the best of both: practical and personalized.

I am a preschool teacher who suggests looking at the classroom for items that get used up quickly such as stickers, post it notes, envelopes ect. Teachers usually spend their own money on these items. A little bag of dollar store items would be much appreciated. I personally cherish the Christmas ornaments children give me. I have a tree I put up each year filled with the past 18 years of children's ornaments.
For 6 teachers you could buy/bake a box of donuts, cookies or snacks for them to talk and eat over. Lotion is a great idea. We do wash our hands a 100 times a day. The hands take a beating.

First off get your daughter to go with you and choose things or get her to do pictures or little hand crafted gifts (you can help)....failing that try:
* Scented Candles
* Oil Burners with aromatherapy oils
* Chocolates
* Bath Salts
* A 'World's Best Teacher' mug
* Scented oil or cream from the Body Shop

If it is in your budget get them a gift card to a local cafe or a nice coffee place or a couple of movie tickets. Avoid getting school supplies.
If you are on a more limited budget (especially with 6 teachers!) try something like a small photo album or scrap book started with one or 2 pictures of your daughter with a school project. If you can, get some pictures of your daughter at school with each teacher.

what i did this year was made handmade gifts. i went to Walden books and got scrapbooks on clearance for 2.00 and decorated them with ribbon, with my second year preschool daughter, she just turned 5. wrote "Christmas 2006" in glue on the top and their names underneath and let my kids throw glitter on it. then cut a page protector to fit on top so the glitter didn't fall off--hard nail polish didn't work. i think handmade stuff is the best. i can remember back to my first daughter's baby shower, the gift i loved the most was an afghan. plus, your daughter will be proud to say she did it with your help.

Lotion, candles, mini reefs, cards, nail polish in Christmas colors, a bake kit. All you do in the bake kit is get some cake or brownie or cookie mix, add small things like chocolate chips, sprinkles, or other things and put it in a jar. Print out a recipe card on the ingredients like eggs, water, or oil that they need to add, and how to bake it! It is fun for the kids and the teachers love it!!!!!
We do this every year for the teachers and they never forget it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was a preschool teacher, and one of my favorite gifts was a Starbucks Mug (the to-go type..with a top) and inside of it was a Starbucks gift certificate. I loved it!!! Good luck!
