I used "add/remove programs" to remove Adobe Premiere Elements version 1 and it seems removed but still shows up in the "add/remove dialog box. Also, after installing Version 2, both versions show up in the dialog box. When I open a file using the "open with" feature only Version 1 shows up as an option.

Did you restart after u removed it??

Do this;

Remove both versions using add remove programs.
Go to start-run- and type "regedit" and click ok
You wil get your system registry.
Click on file and "export" and save it on your desktop as backup.
Next, in the registry do ctrl+f and type the adobe product that you want to remove.
Once you find it, select it and delete.

Then restart your computer and there will be no trace of adobe.

If you want to get back the state of your computer u had previously, just double click on the registry back up and click yes.

Sigh.. go to c:\program files\ and try to find the folders related to this program. Delete them and the use a registry cleaner to clear up the mess left in the registry
