Eat Bananas, oranges, tomatoes or take potassium pills regularly. You probably have a potassium deficiency.

Eat one of these things and they will soak into your system fairly quickly and eliminate the problem for this time anyway.

You must eat healthy food every day. Muscles need nutrition daily or they rebel with spasms.

Without carbohydrates your heart muscle will race and spasm in almost the same way.

watch your potassium and fluids intake. Sometimes being dehydrated will bring on muscle spasms. When I get a charley horse I hold the toes of the leg that is hurting and pull up on them, flexing my ankle. This stretches the muscles and gets rid of the spasm. Works every time.

POTASSIUM.
Seriously I have had first hand experience with this and have found that eating something simple like 2 bananas a day will ward off those charly horses in early morning experiences.

Calcium supplements are good too, I used to get really bad charley horses and when I started taking a calcium pill at night they stopped. You need extra calcium anyway, so this is just a bonus.

flex!! if they come in your thigh or calf flex your foot, move it around. that's the best way to get rid of them. i think they're caused by inbalance of certain minerals like potassium and magnesium, maybe watch your intake.

This has worked for both my children and me.
First, straighten out your leg completely, and then pull your toes back toward you. It might pull alittle, but it will relieve the muscle cramp.
