Hard to say how effective they are. Is it pointless? I don't think you can make a determinatioin on that for at least another five-ten years. But they are deployed. Army Delta was charged with targeting high value individuals such as the hunt for Saddam and his sons. Special Ops personnel were on the ground and targeted Al Zarqawi for the air raid when he was killed. Also, SF units are charged with training Iraq's elite counter terrorism units.

yes we do use sf in iraq however their main job is to train the iraqi army and iraqi sf. but they do have other missons in the middle east that are not heard of in the media. the army and marines have psy ops units in the reg army through out iraq.

yes there effective, at what role they are doing and what there employed to do at that time ie recce and int gathering for future ops. behind the scenes there is an unbelievable amount of work they do and they are not thanked in anyway to be honest more criticised than anything and that is wrong.

yes. certain special forces units are used in iraq but obviously they aren't really used for conventional warfare. the use of special forces really helps the US in succeeding against the war on terror.
