hi i assume that u have installed or done some changes to ur system and want to roll back. to go back to the previous state, though there is no system restore facility available in windows 98 we can still try it. i assume that u r able to use ur windows 98 os right now, else use a bootable windows 98 cd or something get into pure dos mode to c:\ now type scanreg /restore and press enter after a few seconds u'll be presented with four files date wise (registry files) select the older one and press enter and restart ur system. i hope this helps you if it solves ur problem give me 100 points. but one thing you have to delete the files and folders (in case u installed a new software or game) manually. 10 points please. and also ask question in such a way that it is easily understood by the viewers.

Win 98 does NOT have a restore option. (I assume you have a problem that gives you a need to repair or reinstall)
Since you can get to the screen "restore" from your "backup". You DID make backup's didn't you?
Boot from the Win98 CD and try the "repair" option.
If this does not work you will have to reinstall, a real pain without a full system backup, as you have to reinstall ALL your applications, and then "help" them find all the files you made with the application.
With a backup, you can reinstall, and then use the backup to "update" to when you had everything installed and working correctly by restoring over the new install.
I don't see why everybody is crying about you still using 98, I still use win 3.1, 98, MS-DOS, and Unix. THIS machine is a 98, and I am perfectly happy with it. (I also have an XP machine.)

You may not restore a windows 98 system, sorry...
You may reinstall the windows through the W98 CD, starting a new installation and choosing the same path to install it, so it will rewrite windows information... or if you have a problem with a concrete driver or something like that, then you may restart it in safe mode and change whatever would be wrong...
