No, you shouldn't feel guilty. If he wants to be with you, and not her, it's his decision to make. Just because she has MS, shouldn't matter. We will all die one day of something. He made a choice that was his to make. Just be happy.

I don't think that you should feel guilty yourself but I would really question the manhood of this gentleman. Who leaves someone in that position. He is bailing out after 13 years? I could not respect that and I would not want to be with a person like that. Life is great when you are working and have some money, your health, friends... that is when things are easy and life is a bowl of cherries... You learn the most about people when things are not going well and the chips are down... that is when people need you the most to be there and ride out the storm. It may sound harsh but I think this man is a loser, not only is he a whole decade older than you, you already know that if you commit yourself to him that he will bail on you if something bad happens... That is not a person I could love.

you didn't make the decision to leave his ex he did and if he doesn't feel guilty, then there is no reason you should carry that kind of burden for him. If you really like the guy then be with him and let him deal with his own conscience. Carry the guilt for him will only make it hard for you to enjoy what you have with him. Don't worry things always work themselves out eventually and this will too.

I wouldn't feel too bad until you talk to him. If it really bothers you talk to him openly. He may have been planning to leave all along and you just came in at the right time. Now if he left her because she developed MS that's reason to worry. You want someone to be with you no matter what (i'm guessing you guys are serious). Just talk to him calmly about it. Don't let it eat at your or you will ruin the relationship.

It sounds like he just needed any excuse to leave her, and you gave him one. Should you feel guilty? Only if you knew he was with her to begin with. But he was the one who had the commitment with her, not you. He was supposed to be faithful to her, not you. But think about this, what kind of guy leaves a woman when she needs him most?

Don't blame yourself or him.

I'm sure he is feeling pretty low right now.
But what he was facing. Frankly few people can handle.

What he did may not be popular.
He is gonna need some heavy support for his guilt.
I personnaly don't think he should. It's just too much to handle.
But he will.
You need to heelp him live and not drift into that bad place.

Do you feel guilty? You are the only one who could answer that.

I don't think that has anything to do with you. Whatever decision he has made is only him.
