Sounds to me like you are opening yourself wide open for problems later. I would not invest in a home with anyone but a spouse. Even that is not perfect because in case of divorce, there is a fight for the house, or half the equity in the house, etc. Try to find one you can afford by yourself, let it increase in value, sell it, and then you have a better down payment for a nicer home. Or, consider a roommate that can pay rent and half of your utilities to help you. You then get the tax advages of owning your home, but also have help with the payment and utilities.
