I am going to San Diego tonight (staying at the hotel cicle). What are very good restaurants around there? Do not care what food as long as it is great.
Thanks

Food in Hotel Circle is slim pickings. Venture a little bit south of Hotel Circle into the Hillcrest area of San Diego. Hillcrest is up on the hill above Hotel Circle.

Here are my recommendations:

Thai - Celadon (Hillcrest)
Lebanese - Rannoosh (Hillcrest)
Mexican - Chilango's Mexico City Grill (Hillcrest)
Fusion - Kemo Sabe (Hillcrest)
Afghani - Khyber Pass (Hillcrest)
Vietnamese - Saigon on Fifth (Hillcrest)
Diner/Comfort Food - Brians American Eatery (Hillcrest)

Oh man, I was last in San Diego in 1997. I love that city. The best place we like to go to isn't on the hotel circle though, it's really close to the Navy base, a small intimate Italian place - the natives keep it full all weekend. I want to say it's called "Venice Cafe" but can't think for sure. My ex and I first went there in 1984 and it had been around then a little while, maybe a year or two.

Hey, I know, I'll google it. YES! It was "Venice Cafe" and it's on Canon street. That is familiar. It's kinda off the beaten path, in fact the bay is like a block or two away and Canon street deadends there. It's north and west of the airport. Hope that helps. If you don't make it there tonight then try tomorrow night. Don't remember if it was open sundays though. The food is FABULOUS!! (or was when I was last there, but who knows, that's still been 8 years ago.). I loved the Chicken Marsala....

Im a Native San Diegan and I give my vote to Benihana's restaurant, great food, mid to high priced. Its a Polynesian/asian food place, open grills, guys putting on show cutting up youre food for you, wonderful meat and veggies, you just cant go wrong with this place. Happy Eating! :)

There is this place called the Tickled Trout restaurant. The featured dish the Tickled Trout is very unique. It is a fun place to try, if your in the mood for something different.
