Expect to pay around $7.50 a pack anywhere in Manhattan for premium cigarettes (marlboro, parliament, newports, etc.)

It's ridiculous price... but better than London where it's about 6 pounds (in USD that's more than $10/pack).

Funny, in a duty-free shop I was in last summer, they compared their price on a carton of Marlboro -- $37.50 with the NYC carton price at $75 that would make a pack $7.50.

I think I finally figured out what tourist segment to market visiting Cleveland in Winter. Vegas has the gamblers, Miami has beaches, San Francisco has queers and pot. Come to Cleveland it is like smoking in 2004! and I remember when it went over a buck in the early 80s and people got angry.
