you should eat between 1200-1500 calories per day to lose weight. Any less than 1200 and your body will go into starvation mode and slow down your metabolism. A great free site for weight loss is www.sparkpeople.com

It depends on how many your curent intake is. If your consumig 2500 calaroies a day you don't want to automatically just start eating only 1000. You want to gradually decrease so your body doesn't do thet yo-yo effect (which means your body won't be getting enough food and it will go into fat storage mode and everything you eat will be stored b/c ur body will think thats all the food its gonna get, whne this happens you may end up gaining weight). Well, I know the average caloric intake daily for a person to maintain their current weight is about 2,000. Now if you want to lose, just eat less than 2,000 per day. Adding any type of aerobic activity will increase the weight reduction. Also, stay away from the sugar as much as possible because that turns directly into fat.

3500 calories make up a pound, soif you eat 500 cals less per day at the end of the week you'll have a pound less.

1500 with moderate cardio 3 times a week should help you lose like 1 pound per week. That' what I did and I lost 30 lbs this year.
