I have never astro projected while meditating. BUt when I was a child and found myself in a very devastating situation, I left my body. I was sort of like tranced out, and I didnt really see anything, but I felt protected and not alone... I have never been able to achieve this through meditaion only through devastating periods of my life. I feel that this is something that holds me back in my life as well. Like a pattern that the only way I can achieve that same feelilng is through conflict. I want to know it through positive and loving ways.. Do have any suggestions, and have you had any experiences pertaining to this? I wish you well

No I haven't while meditating. I did once while swimming nude in warm water in the dark but that was an accident. I am securely anchored in my body it seems. I am kind of afraid to do this and that is probably why it hasn't happened again. I will be working on the lucid dreaming though. I will figure out the mystery! Isn't life interesting?

What you describe from your childhood is a normal psychological defense mechanism to severe trauma. From a spiritual prospective, there is the idea that Jesus is with us at these times, especially with a child, to protect their soul.

Anyone who meditates on a serious and regular basis needs to have a Spiritual Adviser. If you are Christian this would be a pastor, priest, or member of a religious order. Also if you are doing Christian meditation astro projection is not your goal.

I know that some Shaman can bi-locate which is not quite the same as astro project and a Christian saint named Parde Pio did too. But he did not do it just to do it. He did it during WWII to keep some pilots from bombing his town.

The point of any meditation is to come more into contact with God. It is possible during meditation to have an out of body experience. If this happens it is a gift from God, you can not force it. And as I have said, it is not the goal of meditation.
