How many amplifiers?
What kind of current do/will they draw?
What other equipment is in the car?

Some more info may get you a good logical response from someone.

If it is just one amp you may be able to get away without adding anything else.

If you are talking a whole system with a lot components that draw large amounts of current, then yes, you will need to do something about the charging system in your car.

Adding a battery is not always the correct solution though.

You should (somehow) upgrade you alternator's charging capacity to accomodate the extra current load. Adding a second battery for your stock output altenator to charge, along with the first battery and then the added current draw of the extra components leads to a severe
shortage of power which = problems. A voltage drop to yur amps will cause them to overheat and fry some speakers and amps. Been there, done that. Ruined about $1200 (back in 1989) of equipment in about 3 seconds.

If it's relatively simple, one or two amps may be just fine for a stock alternator. After that I would consider the alternator upgrade and then the extra batteries as a last measure. Who wants more batteries in their vehicle anyways??

I ran 4 subs in my car that were 15 inch solo barics running 2 amps at 2000 watts each. Depending on your vehicle they may make a larger alternator for it. If they offer one with an ac option and power options that you already don't have then I would buy it. If not then your best best bet would to be to invest in acouple of compacitors I had three at 1 farad each. The compacitors act as battery's to store extra power when your regular battery can't. So when it hits hard instead of drawing power from your battery it pulls it from the compacitors.

What size amp will you be using?....It is dependent on the amp draw on the charging system what you may need to do is have a higher output alternator installed. the situation you are creating here is that the alternator has to be working more than it was designed to keep the existing battery fully charged and all the lights etc. good luck but yeah you can try that alternate battery but make sure it is installed so it also can get charged by the alternator.

You will definitely need an amp big enough just make sure that it is or your wasting a lot of time and if then you dont get enough juice try another battery, but it should only need another amp or a bigger one

you would be much better off just getting a high output alternator. a 2nd batter really wont help all that much. you can make more power, and actually your alternator will not only be powering most of your car, but 2 batterys instead of 1.
