My sister's 4 year old is constipated, and the doctor told her that he can't have any milk or diary products at all for the next 4 weeks. Well, we were wondering if he could still have it in tea, because I take him every Friday night, and our thing is having tea together before he goes to bed, and I don't want him wondering why he's not getting to have tea with me... because it's our special thing. My sister doesn't know if that little bit will make a difference or not, and the doctor is on vacation and unreachable unless it's an emergency.. thanks for your help.

No, don't give him any dairy products. There are some non-dairy alternatives on the the market like soy milk. It looks the same, and if you use just a little it won't taste any different. He'll never know that it's not your special cream tea.

No milk or dairy products for 4 weeks seems a bit extreme. I have never heard of that treatment for constipation before. I would say that the small amount of milk you put in his tea will not likely cause any problems. I would think that the benefits of the tea on the constipation would outweigh any possible set back.

A little milk may not hurt, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. It's best to follow the doctor's orders and not add the milk. Some nice warm cider is nice this time of year, maybe try that. I don't think you'll scar him if you skip on the milk.

Give your sister prune juice to drink and a little tiny bit of milk isn't going to make a difference. But you can also drink tea with out milk. It just doesn't taste the same but it can still be your "special" thing you do together.

The small amount of milk or cream that you would use should not be a problem. The main dairy product to stay away from...... for a child that is constipated .....is cheese.
Enjoy your outing.

if the doctor said no milk...that means no milk. tell him you're going to do some extra special this friday. take him out for jamba juice (if it's not too cold were you live) or something that has no milk or other dairy. he'll be just fine.

My son is allergic to dairy products (and soy). He drinks "Rice Milk". They keep it with the organic food and sometimes in the baking isle. It comes in a box on the shelf. He drinks coffee and rice milk sometimes before school and he loves it on cereal.

If it is a normal child..let him do things that he sometimes likes...don't worry please...if u get to be too careful..it sort of makes the child more vulnerable...you can..but the thing of getting things,,may be be a bit carefull..about what the doc said..but yet...u can give some other things ...what is liked...u cn bit avoid dairy products...but don't clearly stop

why not just skip the milk in the tea. throw out the milk and tell him you don't have any. good luck. if the doc said no milk that means no milk not even a little don't risk it. good luck .
