You know, when you drop a piece of food or medicine on the ground, and they say that it is still good for the first five seconds.

I watched this on the Science channel the other day, some guy tested it out, dropping food in various places for 5 sec. and then testing it for microbiological growth. The bacteria was transferred immediately upon the food hitting the ground. What's important is the moisture content of the food, though. If the food was wet then lots of bacteria was transferred. So if you drop a dry piece of food or a medicine pill, then you're less likely to get germs on it. Also, the location of the dropped food is important too. Places that get a lot of sunshine (like the sidewalk) have a lot fewer germs than say, the floor of your house.

That's just a joke. It's dumb to eat anything that has fallen on the ground if you don't wash it. Would you eat a Snickers bar that fell on the ground in a garbage dump if it were there less than five seconds? I doubt it. How about the patty out of a Big Mac if it fell on the parking lot at your local Mickey D's? It's just a joke. Forget it.
