The God is only one, thats true, but as human nature, and ignorance, not all can know if their is a God... even those who says there is not God, they says there is a "Nature"... as Human likes the power, and be superior from each other, they cliam to be gods of the world... even too wealth can also make person's mind crack to cliam him as a god... some people started to worship stones, they says they do believe in god, these are pictures of god or a way to reach to god..

Think about your own question for a moment...
There have been "gods" imagined by humans for as long as there have been humans. These "gods" serve to alleviate fear (of death, of things that happened in their lives that they didn't understand, of plagues of disease and weather disasters, etc.), provide some comfort with the thought of an afterlife, and issue "rules" for living in society that have extra weight if issued by a "god" instead of a man. Early civilizations had a plethora of gods -- one for the sun, one for the earth, one for love, one for war, etc. Since each civilization or culture had their own gods, they began to think that if they did well, their gods must be better or stronger than those of the other cultures. This eventually turned into, in some cultures, a belief in just one god -- who was better and stronger than any of the other gods (and no, the Hebrews were not the first ones to be monotheists).
As humans learned more about how the world really worked, and they learned that their "gods" really didn't do anything for them (for example, a farmer could skip his sacrifice to the rain god and still get a good rainfall for his crops), many gods were abandoned. But we're still a superstitious and fearful species, and several religions and their gods survived into the modern day despite no evidence of their existence and no evidence that they "do" anything for us. Politics and power have also been a large part of the spread of religions, using religion to control people and keep them in line.
Whoever the "one god" you speak of is supposed to be, it's no more valid than any of the other gods that have been imagined by humans throughout history, or any of the gods that are still worshipped today. Every religion claims THEIR god is the one and only true god (or gods -- yes, there are still polytheist religions today)...which one is right? The evidence says none of them are -- they're all equal in that there is no evidence of any kind that any of them exist. So why is yours the "one" while the others are not?
Rational people see the world as it is, with no evidence of any kind of god, with natural explanations for how we got here, how the earth was formed and how it works today, for the weather, and for human behavior and societies. It's only those who lack knowledge of these natural explanations, or who still fear death and long for a supernatural "afterlife" for which there is no proof, that cling to mythical gods. Eventually all of humanity will grow up, learn more, and jettison the remainder of their myths...and the sooner the better!
Peace.

Try reading up on different cultures, their religions, and their reasons for believing as they do. Do the same for your own religion. Then come back and look at this question, and maybe you'll appreciate the answers of the non-Christians here.

Because there are so many different cultures that there were many that came up independently with a "God concept".

They are following a bad example, Satan, who was the first to challenge the soveiegnity of God, and you what happend to him. It's too bad that people would rather view themselves as God, rather than bowing down to the one who created them, and loves them. Pride goeth before a fall, and self-pride got us in this situation to begin with. Satan wanted it all, but there is only room for one true God in this universe , and he is in heaven, looking down on you and me, watching us - to see who we choose to follow. The devil - or HIM.
