" Then it gives me a list of option on how to restarted the computer and Ive tried every one of them and none of them WORK! IT keeps taking me back to the same screen. What am I supposed to do?? Does this mean my computer "crashed?" And is there any way to fix this? (I have a Windows XP)

When you start your computer ...very important as it powers up before you get a full screen, tap on the f2 key....this brings up another way to view a screen that could help.

When you see the screen, and if you don't repeat the above process until you do, then it says to press the escape (esc) key to move on....so do that...and see if you get to a windows regular screen....

Windows has many ways to help you, and you are right you have to get to a open screen to use them.

Did you try control, alt and delete key at the same time to get to the task manager?

Did you try clicking in the left corner....to try to bring up the start for your screen?
If not go to a computer supply place, and ask them for help....they may.

I've had this problem, and if you slowly work with the above, you will get your screen back....sometimes it's a power surge, and I hope you have your computer plugged into a surge protector strip.

hmmm...seems that ones appears in my dream before...it entitled "attacked by an alien"!

aha.. anyway, i will try to resolve your situation here..

according to your problem, i think try to refer to the documentation provided with your windows version distributed when you purchased it. If none in it said there are problems with the message given, then i think it might be a virus attack.

If this was it, so what you have to do is:
1) Format your pc - you supposed to have a startup disk-usually get it in the windows tools(if it is okay, otherwise you can get this from the good condition pc you are using now)
2) Reinstall windows, make sure you get the uncorrupted one!
(if one of the items or file are missing, it will tell you)
3) Install the windows properly, and get the antivirus together with you.(Make sure this one is always updated too-using the online updates)

If your problem seems to be ones that listed in the windows help or references, then follow the steps given to fix it.

Have a nice try!

Try using the windows recovery console by booting from the windows xp CD then hitting 'R' at the first screen after it loads all its goodies. From there you can try to repair the problem and run 'chkdsk /p' to scan the drive for problems or corrupted files, and replace any system files that may be corrupted from the CD itself.

It´s a common trouble when there are a device-fault in your computer like memory crash or motherboard fault. Try change the memory first and reinstall the Windows after.
